VARIOUS, The Rough Guide to the Music of the Andes: Bolivia, (World Music Network 1147). The conjunto folklorico, Bolivia's homegrown music, borrows the rhythmic architecture of European string instruments and adds the heights of Andean flutes. Similar to the buoyant songs of neighboring Peru and Brazil--especially with the inclusion of the charango--these 16 songs remain unique, and distinctly Bolivian, thanks to the lilting flutes crafted in the heights of their immortal mountains.
